Advanced Dental Technology Rapid City

The Best in Precision & Comfort

At Anderson Dental, we have equipped our office with the latest technology available to us, allowing Dr. Anderson and our team to provide you with more detailed treatment plans and streamlined visits. You can read more about our Cone beam CT scanner and Kinetic Cavity Preparation technique below to learn how much of a difference this technology can make in your life.

CBCT Imaging

Regular X-rays are only a 2-D representation of something that is 3-D, while our cone beam CT scanner helps us get a 3-D picture. In dentistry, for implant placement and root canal therapy, CBCT has almost become a standard of care. In our office, we use CBCT for all of our implant surgeries. This is essential in helping our team understand where to place your implant in order to ensure the best final restoration possible.

Proper planning prior to implant placement is essential in creating a solid foundation for a long lasting restoration. Most of our implant surgeries use CBCT to create a guide for implant placement to ensure the proper placement in the bone as well as an ideal placement for your abutment and crown (tooth).

CBCT can also be used to assess tooth roots, undiagnosed abscessed teeth, airway opening (for obstructive sleep apnea), and to assess your jaw joints. Incidentally, CBCT can also be used to diagnose things like cancer. Please do not confuse cone-beam CT scans with medical grade CT. Cone-beam CT scanning used in dentistry creates a fraction of the amount of radiation that a medical grade CT does and is much safer for the patient from a radiation standpoint. That being said, we will only recommend or order a CBCT if it is to your benefit.

KCP (Kinetic Cavity Preparation)

At Anderson Dental, we take pride in using the most innovative and effective dental technology and techniques in our office, one of which is Kinetic Cavity Preparation. This is a more comfortable, minimally invasive alternative to traditional cavity preparation that requires little to no local anesthesia. We’ll use a fine food- and body-safe powder paired with air abrasion to gently spray the decay away. The powder is immediately removed by our evacuation system so you don’t breathe it in.

As opposed to traditional cavity preparation methods, KCP allows our team to remove very little of your healthy tooth’s structure, making it less likely you’ll require a dental crown in the future.
